Milngavie and Bishopbriggs Police Stations Earmarked for Closure
The motion
That the Parliament expresses its concern at the reported announcement that police stations in both Milngavie and Bishopbriggs have been earmarked for closure by Police Scotland; understands that these proposed changes to the police estate have been announced as part of a programme that will see 59 police buildings in Scotland closed over the next three years, seven of which sit in the Greater Glasgow Division; believes that such closures could result in longer police response times across East Dunbartonshire, resulting in an increased risk to public safety; calls for any East Dunbartonshire residents who will be concerned about the impact of these closures to ensure that any concerns are heard through Police Scotland’s engagement portal, and further calls on the Scottish Government to ensure that Police Scotland has the resources that it needs to maintain an effective network of police stations across Scotland.
