The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Stornoway Trust on reaching its 100th anniversary; notes that the Trust is Scotland’s oldest community landlord following a gift of land by Lord Leverhulme and the constituting of a Deed of Trust in November 1923; further notes what it sees as its important role in stewarding 69,000 acres, which are home to nearly 11,000 people and made up of over 40 townships, 1,300 crofts, 200 allotments, farmland and castle grounds; recognises what it sees as the continuing hard work of the elected trustees and staff of the Trust; understands that organisations such as Community Land Scotland are also recognising this occasion as one of national importance with a project marking 100 years of community ownership, and wishes the Stornoway Trust further success over the coming century.
