Paths for All 2023 Attitudes Survey

The motion

That the Parliament recognises Paths for All, a walking charity in Scotland, for sharing the results from its 2023 Attitudes Survey on walking and wheeling participation among adults; notes that the survey indicates a rise in walking frequency since the COVID-19 pandemic, with 85% of Scottish adults walking regularly; understands that, despite positive trends, there are concerns about inequalities, barriers and safety issues, especially for certain groups; further understands that Dr Fiona Bull from the World Health Organization emphasised the lifesaving benefits of walking in a recent lecture, highlighting, it believes, the need to address inactivity-related health issues; thanks Paths for All for its aim to promote walkable environments and 20-minute neighbourhoods, aligning, it understands, with the Scottish Government's commitment, and hopes to see more people considering walking as a way to keeping active in 2024.
