Free Weekend Bus Travel in Aberdeen
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the initiative by First Bus and Stagecoach to offer free weekend travel across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire in January 2024; understands that both companies have said that this initiative is the result of them reinvesting the saving that they have made due to the bus priority measures in Aberdeen city centre; further understands that the bus priority measures are already reducing pollution and congestion in the city centre, while improving the punctuality, reliability and journey times of buses; believes that this initiative by First Bus and Stagecoach will help to encourage people to use public transport and to visit Aberdeen city centre, and encourages people across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to make the most of this offer.
