Congratulating South Lanarkshire College, the First College to Receive the EmilyTest GBV Charter Status
The motion
That the Parliament commends South Lanarkshire College for being awarded the EmilyTest Gender-basedViolence (GBV) Charter for colleges and universities, and dedicating thishonour to the late Emily Drouet; recognises that the EmilyTest charity wascreated in 2016 by Fiona Drouet to improve prevention, intervention and supporton gender-based violence, following the death of her daughter, Emily Drouet, who reportedly completed suicide after being subjected to a campaign ofgender-based violence from a fellow university student; values what it sees as the crucial role that the GBV Charter plays in further and higher education,through offering an institutional and national approach to gender-basedviolence; understands that South Lanarkshire College has invested significanttime and commitment into achieving GBV Charter status, and that this has been acollective effort by staff and students to deliver on the vision of preventingand eradicating all forms of gender-based violence; congratulates SouthLanarkshire College on being the first college to achieve GBV Charter status,and looks forward to other colleges and universities achieving the Charter.
