International Day of Clean Energy

The motion

That the Parliament notes that the United Nations (UN) General Assembly has declared 26 January as the International Day of Clean Energy, as a call to raise awareness and mobilise action for a just and inclusive transition to clean energy for the benefit of people and the planet; recognises what it sees as the positive contributions that are being made across Scotland in the research and development of clean energy technologies; believes that Aberdeen, with a reputation as being the oil and gas capital of Europe, has a key role to play in the global transition to clean energy; recognises in particular the work being done in Aberdeen to support a just transition, and the city’s ambition to be a global net zero capital, and commends the research, development and deployment of clean energy technologies across Scotland.
