BET365 CEO Salary

The motion

That the Parliament notes reports that BET365 CEO Denise Coates took home what it sees as an exorbitant £220 million in pay in 2023, a £7 million increase from the previous year, despite the company reportedly facing substantial losses; understands that Denise, who is reportedly the UK's best-paid boss, continues to earn £1 million every day before tax; considers that what it sees as Denise’s staggering pay package, excluding dividends, is raising eyebrows, leading to the High Pay Centre think tank stating that it is neither fair nor appropriate; recognises the comments from Luke Hildyard, executive director of the High Pay Centre, regarding the sensibility and proportionality of Denise's compensation, highlighting what it sees as the dependence of her wealth on gamblers' losses, the efforts of numerous staff, and broader societal factors; believes that Denise’s personal earnings represent over a quarter of the company's wage and benefit costs, which total around £785 million for the year, and considers that such pay levels raise questions regarding the ethics of executive earnings, especially when a company makes its money from what it sees as a dubious trade such as gambling.
