Congratulating St John The Baptist Primary School and Fauldhouse Nursery on Being Named One of the Best Schools in Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates St John The Baptist Primary School and Fauldhouse Nursery on being named as one of the best schools in Scotland following its recent His Majesty's Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) inspection; understands that following a visit from Education Scotland and the Care Inspectorate, St John the Baptist Primary and Fauldhouse Nursery was evaluated a rare "excellent" for raising attainment and achievement at the school and a "very good" for Learning, teaching and assessment; further understands that, when headteacher, Angela Gardner, took on her post at the school in November 2017, the West Lothian Education Quality Assurance Committee valuation of the school was "satisfactory" in raising attainment and that she had promised the committee that a raising attainment strategy would be the main focus for improvement; understands that since 2017, less than 1% of Scottish primary school inspection evaluations have received an "excellent"; commends Mrs Gardner and the school and nursery staff on the work that they do to ensure that both the school and nursery settings are fun, compassionate and nurturing environments where children can learn and grow to achieve their potential, and wishes the school and nursery continued success in the future.
