Payment for Electricity in Scotland

Lodged by Christine Grahame Standard Motion 3 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament notes reports that energy standing charges remain higher in Scotland than anywhere else in the UK with the exception of north Wales; further notes that an electricity standing charge in Scotland is reportedly £333 per year as opposed to £246 per year in London, despite, it understands, Scotland exporting energy to the rest of the UK; believes that this discrepancy is not a fair deal for consumers and that it adds further hardship at a time when many are struggling with the cost of living, and further believes that the UK Government must put pressure on Ofgem to ensure fairer charges.
