Children's Mental Health Week 2024

The motion

That the Parliament notes that 5 to 11 February 2024 is Children’s Mental Health Week; understands that it has been run annually since 2015 by the children’s mental health charity, Place2Be; notes that this year’s theme is “My Voice Matters”, and seeks to empower, equip and give a voice to all children and young people in Scotland and across the UK; believes that when children feel empowered and that their voices are heard, there is a positive impact on their wellbeing, sense of community, and self-esteem; understands that half of all mental health problems present before the age of 14, underscoring, it believes, the importance of early intervention to ensure that children’s mental health problems do not grow with them, and calls on MSPs to raise awareness of the week and what it sees as the importance of hearing and responding to the voice of children to deliver positive change for their mental health and wellbeing.
