The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges the USDAW union’s new report, Still Struggling, which details the results from a cost of living survey of over 6,000 low-paid workers; understands that the report shows that working people are still finding it almost impossible to make ends meet; considers that there is a need for significant supportive intervention at government level; notes that the report is calling for the immediate rise in the minimum wage to at least £12 an hour, as a step towards £15, as well as for significant improvements to employment rights and the delivery of a social security system that acts as a genuine safety net for all those in poverty, and commends USDAW for undertaking what it sees as this important research.
