Scottish Youth Parliament

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Shizaz Ali and Gemma Gordon on becoming members of the Scottish Youth Parliament for Motherwell and Wishaw; notes that the elections took place between 15 to 26 January 2024; understands that the Scottish Youth Parliament was established in 1999 to give young people the opportunity for their views to be taken seriously with an international legislative context, and to represent the views of young people in Scotland; believes in the importance of youth engagement, empowerment and participation in politics; recognises what it sees as the importance of respecting and promoting a child’s right to be treated fairly, to be heard and to be as healthy as possible; welcomes Shizaz and Gemma to their posts and looks forward to their contributions, and wishes them all the best in their future endeavours.
