Old Kilpatrick Author Overcomes Challenges to Publish First Book

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Michaela Burns from Old Kilpatrick on the publication of her first book, My Words in 40 Days; understands that the talented poet self-published the book as a way to deal with her mental wellbeing after struggling with a long-term health condition; commends Michaela’s drive to overcome what she found as crippling self-doubt and her newfound encouragement to help others also dealing with anxiety, depression and illness; celebrates Michaela's triumph over adversity, and looks forward to the author’s next book.
