Domestic Gas Prices and Profits
The motion
That the Parliament understands that, three years ago, the wholesale price of natural gas sat at around 60 pence per therm, before reportedly spiking to around 800 pence per therm at the height of the energy shock; further understands that it is now back to around 60 pence a therm and has been around that level for several months; believes that this return to long-term stable pricing has not been passed onto domestic customers but has been used by utility companies to deliver bumper profits to their shareholders, and calls on the UK Government to use its powers to force utility companies to pass on these cost savings to customers rather than shareholders.
