Aberdeen Gift Card

The motion

That the Parliament recognises that the Aberdeen gift card has been named the UK's most successful Town and City Gift Card; understands that the gift card, which was launched by Aberdeen Inspired in 2020 to help support local businesses and increase footfall in the city centre, is accepted by over 300 shops, businesses and attractions in the Granite City, and has generated more than £3 million in sales in the local economy overall, including almost £600,000 in 2023; further understands that the gift card is also being used by charities to help people in difficult times; understands that £1.7 million of Aberdeen gift cards were issued to low-income households by Aberdeen City Council across 2022 and 2023 as part of its COVID-19 pandemic-recovery programme, and congratulates Aberdeen Inspired and its partners on the ongoing success of the gift card.
