Dumfries and Galloway's Jena Davies Becomes Queen's Nurse
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Jena Davies, lead nurse, Mental Health and Learning Disability within NHS Dumfries and Galloway, on becoming a Queen’s Nurse within the Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland (QNIS); understands that the charitable organisation’s mission is to support, develop, and inspire Scotland’s community nurses and midwives to build a healthier, kinder, fairer, greener Scotland; further understands that the ethos of the Queen’s Nurses is to “find a way across boundaries, around obstacles, through bureaucracy" and successfully challenge "but we don’t have control over that" or "that will never work here" attitudes; believes that this attitude is an essential characteristic for someone trying to help a patient through layers of established bureaucracy and rules for the many but that can too often lack compassion or flexibility for individual circumstances; recognises in Jena Davies, the compassionate care that she and other Queen’s Nurses deliver, and the clinical expertise that they bring to their nursing practices, and wishes Jena and all of the Queen’s Nurses success and satisfaction in their nursing careers.
