Lodged by Clare Adamson (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 19 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges Millie Frood: Strange Horizons, an exhibition at North Lanarkshire Heritage Centre, which showcases the work of Amelia Frood; understands that Amelia, known as Millie, was born in Motherwell in 1900 and studied at the Glasgow School of Art, later teaching at Bellshill Academy; further understands that Millie Frood was the oldest surviving member of the New Art Club, which, it understands, was an influential movement to revitalise the arts in Glasgow between the 1930s and 1950s, and recognises that the exhibition pulls together diverse pieces of Millie Frood’s work and looks to revive her name in the public art realm, while recognising her significance in the history of her hometown of Motherwell.
