The Wee Box 2024 Campaign Launch
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF) Wee Box 2024 campaign has been launched this Lent; understands that the Wee Box 2024 campaign asks people across the country to help support SCIAF workers and their partners across the globe; further understands that the Wee Box donations will help to make big changes to the lives of women and girls in what it sees as the poverty-stricken Rwanda, where sexual and physical violence has, it believes, become normalised; understands that the campaign is focusing on Rwanda, where, in April 1994, 100 days of mass genocide began, with up to a million people thought to have died in the violence, including an estimated 500,000 women and children who brutally lost their lives; commends SCIAF’s work in supporting the countries hardest hit by climate change, poverty and violence, and wishes it well for the future.
