Ocean Youth Trust Scotland Receives Top Volunteering Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Greenock-based youth work charity, Ocean Youth Trust Scotland (OYTS), on formally receiving the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Volunteering Award; understands that this award is the highest accolade that a local voluntary group in the UK can achieve, and is the equivalent of an MBE; further understands that OYTS is supported by a base of more than 200 skilled volunteers, who work aboard its two 70ft yachts, providing dynamic and educational youth work voyages to more than 600 young people from a range of backgrounds and circumstances each year, including young carers, care experienced young people and those at risk of engaging in the criminal justice system; thanks OYTS and all the volunteers involved in delivering what it sees as this life-changing youth work, and wishes the charity all the best for the future.
