The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Friends of ANCHOR (Aberdeen and North Centre for Haematology, Oncology and Radiotherapy) on the 10th anniversary of its Courage on the Catwalk event; understands that all 24 women taking part in the fashion show have had cancer or haematology-related diagnoses, and that they are either still receiving treatment, living with their diagnosis, or sharing their stories of hope since receiving the all-clear; notes that all the catwalk models are aged from 18 to 77 and come from various places in the north east, including Meikle Wartle, Strichen, Memsie, Ellon, Stonehaven and Aberdeen; understands that ANCHOR is a collective of specialised wards and clinics within Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, and that it is the central hub for cancer and haematology care for the north east of Scotland and the Northern Isles; further understands that the person-centred wellbeing services are freely available for every patient within the ANCHOR Unit, with programmes also available for the staff caring for them; notes that Friends of ANCHOR invests in medical equipment and pioneering research, to push the boundaries of how they diagnose, treat and care for people, while its pledge to promote clinical excellence includes funded development programmes for NHS clinical staff to enhance knowledge and expertise; recognises that all monies donated to Friends of ANCHOR go to the cause, as its administration costs, including salaries, are fully covered by Aberdeen company Balmoral Group, and wishes all those taking part or attending the event every success.
