Welcoming the Five Bids Submitted for the Designation of Scotland’s Next National Park

The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges the Scottish Government's commitment to expanding the national park network by 2026; warmly welcomes the five proposals submitted for the establishment of the proposed Tay Forest, Galloway, the Borders, Loch Awe and Lochaber National Parks that were brought forward by community groups; notes the extensive consultations across Scotland to explore the potential for creating national parks in various areas; commends the collaborative efforts of all communities, volunteers, organisations and stakeholders involved in shaping the different bids in Scotland, including the ones that were withdrawn; believes that the designation of a new national park could foster sustainable development and tourism, enhance and protect nature and create local employment in the chosen area; expresses gratitude to everyone who has contributed to advancing the discussion on national park creation in Scotland, and extends its best wishes to the communities and authorities involved in the five bids mentioned above.
