That the Parliament understands that Barrhead High School and St Luke’s High School, both situated in the town of Barrhead, East Renfrewshire, have received outstanding inspection reviews from Education Scotland; notes that both schools were visited by Education Scotland in late 2023, and the outcomes that resulted from those visits have now been published; understands that aspects of Barrhead High School, such as seeking and acting upon the views of young people, were recognised as sector-leading and outstanding, putting it alongside the best-ever achieved inspection results in Scotland; congratulates the staff of St Luke’s High School for, it understands, ensuring that barriers to learning, participation and achievement are being effectively addressed and that young people at the school feel valued as members of their school community; further congratulates the head teachers of both schools, Fiona Johnston of Barrhead High, and Christine Downie of St Luke’s, on what it sees as their personal impact on the culture of their schools, in particular, it believes, by ensuring that they are inclusive and considerate of the views of pupils; congratulates all staff, pupils and parents on their contribution to the life of each school; hopes that they take pride from what it sees as these glowing reports, and wishes each school all the best for continuous improvement and success.
