Celebrating 150 Years at St Ninian’s High School in Kirkintilloch

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates St Ninian’s High School, Kirkintilloch, in the Strathkelvin and Bearsden constituency, on reaching its amazing milestone of 150 years of academic excellence and service to the local community; recognises that the school, founded in 1874, is one of the oldest state schools in Scotland; notes that celebrations to mark the special anniversary will take place throughout 2024, including an exhibition at the Auld Kirk Museum in Kirkintilloch, the commissioning of a stained glass window for the school oratory, the creation of a mural depicting the school down through the decades to which all pupils can contribute, the production of time capsules and collation of digital memories from former pupils and staff, and a special gala dinner at the end of the year; celebrates the school’s rich history and praises the remarkable hard work of its dedicated staff in teaching and guiding generations of students; recognises what it sees as St Ninian’s High School’s dedication to innovation, inclusivity and high standards, which led to the school achieving a Scottish Education Award in 2017, and wishes the teachers, staff and the wider school community all the very best for continued success.
