Election Fever Grips Bowhouse Primary

The motion

That the Parliament commends the democratic initiative utilised by Bowhouse Primary School, in Grangemouth, to allocate funding raised at the school Christmas Fair; understands that, on 22 January 2024, both P7 groups took part in an election to argue for their chosen policy to make use of the £1,100 of funding; further understands that P7F argued for this to be allocated towards the development of a play trail, while P7M put forward its position that the money should be split equally between all classes and used how each group sees fit, which would amount to a £100 share each; recognises the success of P7M’s campaign, having secured a six-vote majority for its proposal to equally share the funding; notes that real, locked ballot boxes were used to increase the realism of the experience, with great support from local councillor, Euan Stainbank; congratulates Bowhouse Primary School on its creative and democratic decision-making process to direct the use of this money, and wishes all classes at Bowhouse Primary the best of luck as they make deliberations on how best to spend their allocated funding.
