The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Jamie O’Rourke on being named Personality of the Year 2024 by the Falkirk Arts Network; understands that Jamie received this award for his dedication to theatre and the performing arts, particularly with young people from across the Falkirk East constituency and beyond; recognises that Jamie’s journey within theatre and the performing arts began when he was just 13 years old, in an after-school drama class, before he went on to join the Young Portonians Theatre Company; notes that, at 18, Jamie established his own theatre company that would later go on to be known as Project Theatre, the ethos behind which was to provide classes and skills workshops to help prepare young people who may be too nervous to audition, helping encourage them to offer their skillset to the industry; notes that Project Theatre has developed throughout the years from its first performance in 2010 at Bo’ness’ Barony Theatre; understands that, as Artistic Director, Jamie has now directed 12 shows at Falkirk Town Hall and two at Grangemouth Town Hall; congratulates Jamie once again on being named Personality of the Year, and wishes him the best of luck as he continues to contribute towards theatre and performing arts opportunities for young people across the district.
