Kincardine and Mearns Youth Club (KMYC) Granted Community Asset Transfer of Former Sea Cadet Building in Stonehaven

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Kincardine and Mearns Youth Club (KMYC) on being granted a community asset transfer to purchase the former Sea Cadet building in Stonehaven from Aberdeenshire Council for £1.00; understands that the building had been home to Stonehaven Sea Cadets since 1959 before they moved to bigger premises in 2023; notes that the aims of KMYC are to assist with the provision of recreational facilities and activities with the object of improving the conditions of life for young people aged between 10 and 25 years old in the Kincardine and Mearns area of Aberdeenshire; understands that the building will also be home to Stonehaven Youth Club once remedial works to bring the building up to standard are complete; further understands that KMYC has a dedicated group of volunteers of varied experience that will bring a multitude of skills and knowledge to make the project work, and wishes the volunteers, committee and young people of Kincardine and Mearns Youth Club the very best of luck in their new facilities.
