The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the residents of Haydale Care Home in Tollcross on hosting their first annual bake off; notes that the bake off was arranged to bring people together by opening the competition to residents, their families, members of the community and other care homes owned by Advinia Health Care; understands that, in the lead-up, residents made practice cakes, which, according to the home, have a sensory benefit for all levels of dementia and learning disabilities; believes that the activity was inclusive to everyone, with everyone able to taste, smell and touch the cakes; considers that the event also had a reminiscence benefit to residents and families as it was the chance to remember their favourite cakes, and share stories of baking disasters or their love of baking; notes that there were more than 20 entries, including the youngest contender at just nine years old; understands that the winner was maintenance man Jamie McDavitt, with his sprinkle surprise cake, and further understands that Jamie will now be hosting the 2025 bake-off event, following his win.
