Tarfside Scottish Women’s Rural Institute Celebrates Centenary

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Tarfside Scottish Women’s Rural Institute on its centenary celebrations; understands that around 40 women, who are current or previous members of Tarfside Scottish Women's Rural Institute, gathered in Edzell to celebrate the significant milestone; further understands that Tarfside Scottish Women's Rural Institute welcomes women of all ages to its monthly meetings in the village of Tarfside, Angus; notes that Scottish Women's Institutes have a rich history across Scotland’s communities, promoting education and connecting women locally and nationally to improve their quality of life through friendship, education, sharing and having fun; recognises that the first Women’s Institute was formed in Scotland in Longniddry, East Lothian, in 1917, and that there are 500 groups currently across Scotland, and wishes Tarfside Scottish Women's Rural Institute many more years of learning, fun and friendship.
