Sheila Fleet Jewellery Fundraising Success for Orkney MS Society

The motion

That the Parliament applauds the efforts of Sheila Fleet Jewellery, based in Tankerness, Orkney, on raising £33,226.25 for the Orkney MS Society group through its charitable Daisies collection over the past two years; understands that Orkney has the highest rate of multiple sclerosis (MS), with research estimating that the condition affects one in 250; understands that the internationally-renowned jeweller’s charitable efforts began with a collection called Daisies for Emily to support a former employee, Emily Findlay, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma aged 14; further understands that the designs for the three charitable Daisies collections were inspired by a photograph taken by Sheila Fleet's late husband, Rick; recognises that, in the years since, the collections have supported a range of different causes and charities, with the Orkney MS Society being the latest beneficiary; believes that the astonishing amount raised will help the Society continue its vital work supporting those with MS in the islands; thanks Martin and Mairi Fleet, and all at Sheila Fleet Jewellery, for what it sees as their remarkable charitable efforts, and wishes Orkney MS Society well in its important work going forward.
