Beat the Street South Ayrshire Prize Giving

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Beat the Street competition on its success; understands that it held its prize-giving ceremony for South Ayrshire on 26 April 2024; further understands that it is the first year that the initiative has visited South Ayrshire, with over 12,000 players taking part, walking, cycling, wheeling or scooting an incredible 113,227 miles in only six weeks; understands that the streets of South Ayrshire were transformed into a giant board game as players searched for their next Beat Box, unlocking points for their efforts; further understands that the programme was commissioned by Ayrshire Roads Alliance and South Ayrshire Council, delivered by Intelligent Health and what it sees as the tireless work of its engagement coordinator, Craig Dalziel,  with funding support from Transport Scotland; notes that the game was developed to encourage physical activity for all ages across the community, from primary schools to small groups, all keen to be top of the leader board in their own category; acknowledges the overwhelming success of the scheme; congratulates Struthers Primary School on being the overall total points school winner and Muirhead Primary on being the overall average points school winner; further congratulates 28th Ayrshire (Troon) Scout Group on being the winner of the community and workplace teams category, and Monkton Milers on coming first in the category of running and cycling; congratulates Rad Dads on coming first in the small teams category and Della Mae for competing as an individual and taking home first prize; applauds everyone who got out exploring as part of Beat the Street; understands that the combined mileage of the players triggered a £500 donation by Intelligent Health to The Night Before Christmas Campaign; congratulates everyone once again on their achievements, and wishes Beat the Street continued success for the future.
