Young Footballers' Six-hour Hike to Raise Money for Epilepsy Scotland and ACCORD Hospice in Paisley
The motion
That the Parliament notes that 13 Gleniffer Thistle Football Club players embarked on a 25km walk that took them from Hampden Park to St Mirren Park, via Celtic Park and Ibrox, to raise money for a charity with ties to the team; understands that the players, who play for the club’s 2012s Tangerines, raised £1,475, which was split between Epilepsy Scotland and ACCORD Hospice in Paisley; understands that the reason for choosing the epilepsy charity came from teammate Josh, who has the condition; notes that the hike across Glasgow took the boys more than six hours, finishing at the St Mirren stadium; acknowledges that, after the walk, four of the players visited the Epilepsy Scotland offices in Govan to meet some of the team and to present the charity with the money that had been raised, and understands that Epilepsy Scotland's Fundraising Manager praised the boys for their walk across Glasgow and then to Paisley in a single day, and expressed their gratitude that the boys had chosen the charity to fundraise for and were humbled by the large amount that the team had managed to raise.
