Carla Basu Wins Royal Television Society Scotland Student Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Coatbridge resident and student journalist, Carla Basu, on winning the Royal Television Society Scotland Student Award for her film, Bruised; understands that the film concerns domestic abuse, and explores the various types of support that are available to survivors; praises Carla for what it sees as her diligent work on making the film, which took two years of extensive research; notes that this research involved interviewing and corresponding with victims, survivors and experts of domestic abuse; commends those survivors who shared their experiences; notes that Bruised was produced with the support of University of the West of Scotland, where Carla is an MA Broadcast Journalism student; understands that Bruised is currently being distributed to schools in Scotland through Committed to Ending Abuse, in order to foster discussion and awareness of domestic abuse; praises Carla and the University of the West of Scotland for the success of the film, and wishes Carla continued success with her promising broadcasting career.
