Clydebank Girl Guide Leader's Extraordinary Service
The motion
That the Parliament recognises Elspeth Mitchell, who is retiring as an active leader of the Clydebank Girl Guides after over 60 years of service; understands that Elspeth became involved in guiding when she joined the Brownies in 1952 in Clydebank, and that, by 1963, she had become an assistant leader at 6th Clydebank Guides and a dedicated volunteer ever since; notes that she has held many posts in her guiding career, such as district and division commissioner, treasurer and mentor; welcomes that, in 2023, she was awarded a long service award recognising her dedication to Girlguiding; believes that Elspeth has been a huge role model for women and girls and has made a remarkable contribution to Girlguiding, and wishes her a very restful and well-earned retirement.
