The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the reports that an agreement has been reached between ScotRail conductors based at Glasgow Central, Ayr, Stranraer and Dumfries railway depots and ScotRail management in the dispute over the role and responsibilities of the guard; recognises what it sees as the vital role that the RMT Union has played in highlighting the importance of train guards on Scotland’s Railway and, it understands, in the successful negotiation of a commitment from ScotRail to have guards on Barrhead and East Kilbride route services, and celebrates what it sees as the difference that guards make in ensuring train services are safe for passengers, useable for those with accessibility needs and in providing ticketing and information knowledge to passengers of all ages.
