Economic Impact of Tourism Exceeds £1.1 Billion in North East Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the latest independent analysis of tourism data by Global Tourism Solutions, which shows that the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire visitor economy contributed £1.1 billion worth of economic impact in 2023, representing a 32% increase since 2019; understands that over three million visitors booked overnight accommodation and that 2.5 million visitors come for day visits to experience the region’s rich history and culture, as well as the high-quality services and products on offer; further understands that Aberdeen International Airport has received increased passenger numbers, necessitating a terminal expansion in 2019, with 2.3 million passengers transiting through the airport in 2023, suggesting that the region is an attractive destination for international visitors, and commends all those in the local tourism and hospitality sectors for what it sees as their part in making the north east a more attractive place to visit.
