Community Activism of Lee Young

Lodged by Karen Adam (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 12 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament commends the community activism of Portsoy resident, Lee Young, whose campaign to highlight the lack of a safe road crossing place in the Banffshire and Buchan Coast village of Portsoy has seen over half the village population sign a petition calling on Aberdeenshire Council to take action to provide a safe crossing place in Portsoy on what it considers to be the extremely busy A98; understands that Aberdeenshire Council has removed the school crossing patroller service in Portsoy and across Aberdeenshire, meaning that children must cross the A98 unattended to attend the local primary school, and calls on Aberdeenshire Council to engage with Lee Young and the Portsoy community to address the road safety concerns of the residents of Portsoy.
