The motion

That the Parliament applauds Lochlan Murdoch, from Cumnock, for winning the 2024 Pride of Scotland Teenager of Courage Award; understands that Lochlan started the charity, Lochlan’s Legacy, in 2020 to raise awareness of type 1 diabetes, and to work towards creating a more informed and compassionate society for those living with the condition; notes that Lochlan was inspired to start the charity after organising an event that saw him walk around all of the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) stadiums in four days to raise funds and awareness for type 1 diabetes; recognises that Lochlan was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at four years old, and that he uses his experience to inform others; commends Lochlan’s Legacy for working with the Scottish Football Association to provide training to coaches on how to support children with diabetes; recognises that Lochlan’s charity ran a series of roadshows, which informed children and young people on how to manage their diabetes; considers that winning the Teenager of Courage Award is a testament to Lochlan’s success and advocacy, and wishes him the very best for the future.
