Five Sisters Zoo in West Calder Voted Best Family Day Out in Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Five Sisters Zoo in West Calder on being voted Best Family Day Out at the Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards 2024; understands that these awards recognise establishments that excel in providing outstanding experiences for their patrons; recognises that, after originally being established as a garden centre by landscape gardener Brian Curran and his wife Shirley, Five Sisters Zoo was officially founded in 2005 and has evolved into a sanctuary for unwanted pets, with the zoo growing to accommodate over 180 different species of mammals, birds, and reptiles, including rescued bears and lions formerly part of travelling circuses; acknowledges that the zoo has been credited by the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is dedicated to the conservation of endangered wildlife, both native and non-native species, and wishes the Five Sisters Zoo continued success for the future.
