Recognising May Tumilty's Volunteering Efforts with St Andrew's Hospice
The motion
That the Parliament recognises Coatbridge resident May Tumilty’s contribution to her community as a volunteer for almost 20 years with St Andrew's Hospice; understands that May, who recently turned 90, volunteers two days a week at the Hospice's shop located on Coatbridge Main Street; believes that May has shown true dedication, commitment, and selflessness in her volunteering role and has been described as “the focal point in our community”; praises the specialist palliative care that St Andrew's Hospice has provided in Lanarkshire since 1957; notes that St Andrew’s Hospice currently has 12 stores and two warehouses located throughout North and South Lanarkshire; understands that the income raised in their shops and online platforms helps the hospice to provide important expert palliative care to the people of Lanarkshire; believes that volunteers like May enrich communities across Scotland by fostering a sense of loyalty, community spirit, and altruism, and wishes May a very happy milestone birthday.
