Isle of Arran Beat the Street Success

That the Parliament congratulates the Isle of Arran’s success in the 2024 Beat the Street competition; understands that the competition, which took place in February and March 2024, encouraged adults and children to become active by picking up their Beat the Street cards and swiping them at beat boxes across the island to collect points for walking, running, cycling or scootering; understands that more than 10,000 people got involved from across Arran, Ardrossan, Saltcoats, Stevenston, Dalry, Beith, Gateside, Glengarnock, Kilbirnie, Campbeltown and areas in Argyll and Bute, covering an incredible 145,037 miles in six weeks; notes that the project is run by Intelligent Health and delivered in partnership with North Ayrshire Council and Argyll and Bute Council; understands that all seven primary schools on Arran took part, with Whiting Bay Primary School earning the most points on the island, winning a £250 voucher for sports equipment; further understands that joint second in the total points category went to Brodick Primary School, which earned a £100 voucher for sports equipment, and Shiskine Primary School, which also came first in the average points category, awarding it a £150 book voucher; appreciates that the Beat the Street overall winner, Shonagh Pringle, a resident of Arran and classroom assistant at Whiting Bay Primary, took home a trophy after amassing a phenomenal 76,750 points; congratulates everyone once again on their achievements, and wishes Beat the Street continued success for the future.
