The motion

That the Parliament commends Janice Heggie, lead neonatal nurse at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, for undertaking to cycle almost 400 miles from London to Amsterdam to raise funds for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity; notes that the challenge, which takes place in June, will involve cycling across four countries in four days; recognises that Janice will cycle with a colleague and 16 patient family members, who all want to give back to the hospital; understands that the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity team will be joined by teams from five other children’s hospitals from across the UK, namely Alder Hey, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Bristol Children's Hospital, Sheffield Children's Hospital and Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity; recognises that Janice won Leader of the Year at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Women and Children Awards in May 2024, and in 2025 will mark 35 years of service with the health board; considers that Janice is a truly inspirational nurse for her dedicated service and for undertaking this gruelling cycle to raise funds to give children and families, who use Scotland’s largest children’s hospital, the special care they deserve, and wishes Janice and the rest of the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity team the very best of luck in the challenge.
