Marathon Challenge for Local Dads from Banchory

The motion

That the Parliament commends John Pope, Martin MacRae, Pete Torrance, Stuart Watt, Andy Leslie, Carlos Mejuto and David Stockan, from Banchory, for the challenge that they are undertaking, running the Banchory 100 to raise money and awareness for those affected by brain injuries; notes that the Banchory 100 is a 100km ultramarathon, which will start in Banchory before taking in several surrounding hills, and end in Banchory’s King George V Park; understands that the dads aim to raise £10,000 for three specialist facilities that saved the life of Martin’s wife, Morag, after she fell ill on a family holiday in Australia with severe swelling to her brain in 2022; notes that the charities that will benefit from this incredible challenge will be Friends of the Neuro Ward and Horizons Rehabilitation Centre in Aberdeen and Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital Foundation in Australia, where Martin’s wife underwent life-saving brain surgery, and wishes them all the very best for this incredible challenge.
