STV's Glen Michael Celebrates 98th Birthday

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Glen Michael from Maidens on celebrating his 98th birthday; understands that Glen is most notable for hosting Glen Michael’s Cartoon Cavalcade on STV for 26 years, from 1966 to 1992; considers Glen to have been an important part of many Scottish people’s childhoods through his television work; notes that Glen was born in Devon but has called Ayrshire his home for the past 70 years; applauds Glen for his extensive charity work, which includes supporting Age Scotland’s campaign to tackle loneliness and social isolation, which, it understands, he experienced following the death of his wife; recognises the message that Glen has reportedly given about the importance of community spirit and that small acts of kindness can make a big difference for many; thanks Glen for his services to entertainment and charity, and wishes him the very best for the future.
