East Kilbride’s Tipping Family Walked 14 Miles in the Kiltwalk 2024 in Memory of Their Gran Dinah and in Aid of Kilbryde Hospice

The motion

That the Parliament notes that Ann, David, Morven, Drew, and Karen of East Kilbryde’s Tipping family walked 14 miles in the 2024 Kiltwalk, in memory of their grandmother Dinah, in aid of Kilbryde Hospice; understands that the family raised over £1,500 for the Hospice, beating their target by 51%; notes that Dinah had cancer and was cared for by the staff at Kilbryde Hospice, who provided support through day visits for crafts and activities, and latterly through in-patient respite and pain management; understands that the Tipping family remains grateful to the staff of the hospice for their wonderful care of Dinah; notes that Kilbryde Hospice provides specialist palliative care to patients with life-limiting progressive illnesses, alongside complimentary and rehabilitation therapies, through both in- and out-patient services; understands that Kilbryde Hospice relies on fundraising to continue its important work; believes that the Kilbryde Hospice was built thanks to the hard work of many people, particularly that of founding members Tony and Gretta McGuinness, who made it their personal mission to build a hospice for the people of South Lanarkshire; celebrates the Tipping family’s determination to complete the Kiltwalk challenge, and commends the important work of the Kilbryde Hospice.
