East Kilbride’s George Maxwell Climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Memory of Agnes Provan and in Aid of Kilbryde Hospice

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates George Maxwell of East Kilbride, who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in memory of his beloved family member Agnes Provan, in aid of Kilbryde Hospice; understands that George raised £5,348 for the hospice; notes that Agnes was tended to during her illness by the staff at Kilbryde Hospice, with care and compassion, even in the face of challenging restrictions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and funding limitations; understands that George and Nicola Maxwell remain grateful to the staff of the hospice for their empathetic and professional care of both Agnes and the wider family; notes that Kilbryde Hospice provides specialist palliative care to patients with life-limiting progressive illnesses, alongside complimentary and rehabilitation therapies, through both in- and out-patient services; understands that Kilbryde Hospice relies on fundraising to continue its important work; believes that the Kilbryde Hospice was built thanks to the hard work of many people, particularly that of founding members Tony and Gretta McGuinness, who made it their personal mission to build a hospice for the people of South Lanarkshire; celebrates George’s determination to climb Kilimanjaro in aid of an important service, and commends the important work of the Kilbryde Hospice.
