Healthy and Active East Kilbride Complete the Kiltwalk 2024 to Raise Funds for the Community
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Healthy and Active East Kilbride team, which completed the Kiltwalk 2024 to raise funds for the local community; understands that group members have donned their hiking boots to walk for either 14 or 22 miles; acknowledges that, while many of the group face considerable health barriers, they were not deterred by the walking challenge; understands that the team raised money to help sustain the work of Healthy and Active East Kilbride, which offers support to people in the local community, in the form of ShopMobility services based in The Meeting Place Cafe, home support services which include prescription and grocery deliveries and keep-in-touch visits, community classes and groups, and mental health and wellbeing support; believes that the service has managed to continue its important work through the support of funders and local people; notes that community donations for the team's Kiltwalk challenge have exceeded the target by more than 80%; celebrates what it sees as the group's bravery and determination, and offers its members congratulations for completing this challenge.
