Scotland’s Beach Award
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Irvine Clean-Up Crew on again winning a Scotland Beach Award from environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful; understands that Scotland's Beach Awards are the benchmark for quality, celebrating clean, well-managed and sustainable beaches, with excellent beach management and environmental best practice, and the maintenance of high standards; notes that to gain an award, beaches must meet standards across three areas, namely access, facilities and safety, local environmental quality, and communities and heritage; believes that beaches and the coastal environments are a valuable national asset, providing critical habitats for many species and the basis for activities including tourism, coastal recreation and fishing; congratulates all of the volunteers at Irvine Clean-Up Crew, and wishes them every success in the future.
