2024 Edition of It's A Knockout In Honour of Greig Steven

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the return of It’s a Knockout family fundraising day at Valefield, Kilbirnie, on 15 June 2024; understands that the event is being held in aid of Greig Steven Memorial, a charity set up after his untimely death in 2015; notes that Greig Steven was a Police Scotland horse groomer from Kilbirnie who died aged 25 from a rare and aggressive cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, which attacks the body’s bile duct; is aware that a newly refurbished facility for Police Scotland’s mounted unit in Stewarton was named in honour of Greig Steven in 2023; applauds the Greig Steven Memorial for its work in supporting people of all ages living with cancer and their families since its foundation in 2016; is aware that funds raised through its events contribute to the running costs of Greig’s House, a complimentary retreat in Wemyss Bay for families to spend time with their loved ones with cancer; understands that the 2023 edition of the It’s a Knockout event raised around £18,000 in support of its cause; wishes chairperson, Elaine Steven, and all the volunteers good weather and strong attendance at this year's event, and further wishes every future success in Greig’s memory and all the help Greig Steven Memorial will continue to provide to those living with cancer and their families.
