NHS Fife Team Developing Diabetic Eye Screening Services in Kyrgyzstan

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the dedication and hard work of NHS Fife's Diabetic Eye Screening service team, which has been working with local nurses and doctors in Kyrgyzstan; understands that Lynsey Scott and Dr Caroline Styles were invited to the capital city of Bishkek by the World Health Organization at the end of April 2024, alongside colleagues from Belfast; notes that they oversaw the training of eight nurses, advising on topics including best practice for setting up clinic rooms, capturing good quality retinal images, identifying diabetic retinopathy in the images, and developing a clinical pathway for patients; congratulates them on being recognised for their work by the World Health Organization, and thanks them for their commitment to cross-border health education.
