Success of Eaglesham Fair 2024

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Eaglesham Fair Organising Committee for putting together an outstanding range of activities for local people to enjoy at the recent fair; understands that a key aim of the Eaglesham Fair is to bring the local community together through the organisation of varied activities; recognises that a number of activities had been scheduled to celebrate this year's fair from 25 to 31 May, including the Eaglesham Fair Golf Competition, the Guided Eaglesham History Walk and a football match between Eaglesham and Busby Amateurs; acknowledges that the events to take place in the final week of May were followed by the main fair day on Saturday 1 June, which commenced with a procession at 11.15 am from Eaglesham Primary School, with the inclusion of walking groups and decorated floats; notes that the programme of events on the Saturday included Best Float Competition, performances from the Eaglesham Community Choir and the Mearns Castle Former Pupils Band, the Fair Dog Show, a Baking, Sewing and Novelty Competition and a Prizegiving Ceremony to present a range of awards; acknowledges that there was also a funfair with a range of attractions for local families to enjoy, such as the Royal British Legion Motorbikes, Classic Cars, Face Painting, Beat the Goalie and the Pop-up Play Village; recognises that activities for the 2024 fair concluded on Sunday 2 June with events at the Eaglesham Bowling Club and the Eaglesham Parish Church; understands that a large number of local organisations supported and sponsored activities at the fair, including Bonnyton Golf Club, Eaglesham Garage, Mearns Golf Academy, The Eglinton Arms and The Wishing Well; commends the Eaglesham Fair Organising Committee and all other groups and organisations involved with the 2024 fair for ensuring that it was both successful and memorable, and looks forward to further local community-centred events in future years.
